Year 1 Themes and Aims

Theme 1 - Who Am I – exploring  identity.
Aim – The aim is to develop and deepen children and young people’s knowledge and understanding of identity/ies, diversity and community.  To promote the valuing of common identity and diversity.  To provide opportunities for adults, who work with children and young people, to share good practice, increase understanding of the issues of identity and community in their districts and to broaden perspectives.

Theme 2- My world – what my culture is and what the culture is of my friends in Taiwan and Korea .
Aim - To develop awareness, empathy, and respect.  To provide the opportunity for young people to understand the culture and values of  others, to build new relationships and work towards contributing to a global community.

Theme 3 - Rhymes, song, drama and dance – Understanding and exchange of music and art.
Aim – To develop the skills of participating in communal and international cohesion by using the universal language of song/ drama/ dance. To produce a DVD with songs from UK , Korea and Taiwan as a resource to be shared and used by  schools in the Borough (a copy will be sent to the British Council and uploaded on the online community website).
